VOLUNTEER COACHES

Coach Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental skills

  • Promote good sportsmanship

  • Communicate clearly with parents

  • Hold weekly practices

  • Attend preseason coach meeting

  • Use provided equipment (1 football per team, flags included)

If No Parent Volunteers

  • NJ Flag emails parents requesting volunteers

  • If no one volunteers within 2 days of the first game, NJ Flag temporarily coaches

  • Once a parent volunteers, they take over the team

Coaching Guidelines

  • Keep expectations reasonable

  • Focus on fun and development over winning

  • Encourage respect for referees and opponents

  • Emphasize safety

  • Follow medical guidance regarding injured players

  • Praise effort and improvement
